About Me

My name is Alison, I live on the South coast of England, with my husband and two sons, and I am a certified mindfulness teacher.  I am registered with the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA) which means I adhere to their good practice guidelines.

I came to mindfulness meditation over seven years ago as a way to reserve myself some time to slow down and just ‘be’. My children were still very young and just juggling family life, work and housekeeping was difficult.  I had suffered post-natal depression with both my children, and I was aware that I needed to continue to build self-care into my routine.

For 26 years, I worked in the NHS, in non-clinical roles, focusing on workforce development and online learning. Over that time, I witnessed how staff commit long hours to work, wrestle with numerous conflicting priorities, and are often overwhelmed, constantly in ‘doing’ mode.  For this reason, I began to lead short mindfulness sessions with my colleagues. These highlighted to me how much mindfulness could offer.

High levels of stress and anxiety are not just reserved for people working in the health sector; the pace and volume of modern-day work has effects on people working across all sectors.  This is what motivated me to train to become a mindfulness teacher. I offer a variety of mindfulness courses, from one-off sessions to longer 8-week programmes, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I’m also specially trained to deliver mindfulness in arts, and integrate creative practices into my teaching, offering a unique and engaging experience.
